Southbank Mosaics is a mosaic art studio engaging the local community in making public art.

Southbank Mosaics is a not for profit social enterprise working at the intersection between mosaic art practice and community work. Since 2004 we run an “Open Studio”, where artists, volunteers, school students and active citizens are trained in mosaic design and then help us to make public art works. Mosaic is the perfect medium for our shared public spaces, because of its colour and durability. We show urban planners and designers the potential of using mosaic for: Adding character and detail to public spaces, making a memorable mark on London and creating local employment (as what we teach is a labour intensive skill).
